Can you believe it's already September? Time flies when you're having fun at Bear Lake Reserve, and we have plenty of fun planned for this extended Labor Day Weekend. We're also looking forward to another beautiful autumn in the mountains as leaf season approaches. All of that and more in this week's Bear Prints. |

Labor Day Weekend: September 2nd - 5th
|
|
|
|
|
|
The unofficial end of summer is has arrived! Check out some of the activities we have planned during this extended Labor Day Weekend.
Canoe/Kayak Sprint - September 3rd
Grab your paddles for a friendly kayak/canoe race.
We have double kayaks, canoes, and single kayaks available for use and all necessary equipment will be provided. This will be family friendly, so all ages are welcome to compete.
Swim Up Movie - September 3rd Maybe you've been to a drive up movie, but have you ever been to a swim up movie? Join us at the pool for a family friendly movie night under the stars featuring Finding Nemo! Bring your floaties and bathing suits and "just keep swimming", or bring a blanket and sweatshirt to cozy up and watch from a pool chair. Concessions and pool chairs will be available, but we recommend bringing a blanket and/or a lawn chair to ensure you enjoy the evening comfortably.
Botany by Boat - September 4th Join us and our friends from Bigelow's Botanical Excursions as we explore Bear Creek Lake via kayak and learn more about the flora growing throughout the mountain. Consider this a special edition of our regularly scheduled kayak excursions.
Pickleball Tournament - September 4th Join us at the courts for a round robin pickleball tournament. All skill levels are welcome, ages 16 and up. We’ll play in multiple flights and prizes will be awarded to the winners in each flight.
Pool Party & Snow Cones - September 4th
Join us for a Labor Day Weekend pool party filled with fun for all ages. Relax in the sun with a cocktail from the Poolside Bar or treat yourself and the kids to a delicious snow cone. Pool floaties and water games will be provided.

Our adjusted Fall Hours are here, taking effect from September 6th through November 28th. Please note that dining and shopping at the Lake Club will be closed on Tuesdays, and outdoor amenities such as the pool and pickleball courts will stay open as weather and lighting permit. We appreciate you're understanding as we look forward to a lovely leaf season on the mountain! |

Our next Homeowner's Luncheon is tomorrow, September 2nd at noon, and a very special guest will be joining us. North Carolina State Senator Chuck Edwards, who visited us on Memorial Day, will be returning to meet members of our community and learn more about the future of Bear Lake Reserve. Fresh off of our biggest event to date featuring Thompson Square, we're thrilled to announce that September's Castle Session featuring Ray Wylie Hubbard is SOLD OUT.
This legendary singer-songwriter brings his rough around the edges, outlaw country style to a packed Castle on September 22nd. We can't wait for another incredible evening of music and storytelling, and we hope you'll join us for our final Session of the year.

Did you know Brett Jones co-wrote the hit "That's How Country Boys Roll"? Made famous by Billy Currington in 2009, the song rose to #1 on the American and Canadian Billboard Country Charts in March of 2010. It's one of fourteen top-10's and seven #1's Jones wrote over the course of 3 separate decades. He even took a pilgrimage to the Florida Keys via sailboat in the middle of his career, spending 5 years away from music to rediscover himself before returning to the charts. He's joined by Bobby Terry, a multi-talented musician and producer who plays everything from guitar to keyboard. He has helped produce many hit albums and singles throughout the years, such as Brad Paisley's Time Well Wasted.

As the sun begins to set earlier each evening during the fall months, our sunset cruises will be starting progressively earlier in the coming weeks. For reference and to alleviate any confusion, here are the start times for Sunset Cruises from Labor Day Weekend through November:

As the weekends continue to stay busy, we'd like to remind everyone that dinner reservations at the Lake Club are highly recommended. While they are not required to dine with us, it is simply the best way to ensure that we are able to seat you and your guests in a timely manner.
